Murray v Roddick Betting - Just Hype For The Best
By Paddy Power July 2 2009
With Andy Murray on the verge of becoming the first British player to play in a men's Wimbledon final since the top four players in the world were the only men who could afford tennis racquets and the horse and carriage to get them to London from their country estates, it's only natural that the media has been filled with unrealistic aspirations. Thankfully, Murray is turning a blind eye to it, revealing "It doesn't make any difference to the way you perform, the hype." "I don't read it because 90% of the stuff's going to be pretty much untrue anyway" – probably referring to all that outlandish talk of him being capable of beating Federer in the final. The expectation is huge, but if he doesn't overcome Andy Roddick, it will all count for net-thing. Fri. 1.10pm BBC
